Patrick Woods-Toth will join the US F4 Championship this year with Kiwi Motorsport.
By: Motomaster Ron Fellows Karting Championship
March 7, 2023

Bowmanville, Ontario - Reigning Motomaster Ron Fellows Karting Championship (MRFKC) Rok Senior Champion and Canadian National Champion, Patrick Woods-Toth, is set to begin the F4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.) this weekend at NOLA Motorsport Park, near New Orleans, Louisiana. The 19-year-old driver from Montréal, Quebec will drive for Kiwi Motorsport.

“I am super excited to welcome Patrick, a fellow Canadian, to our team,” said Kiwi Motorsport team owner, Teena Larson. “Patrick has an amazing karting bio and I’m positive this weekend at NOLA will see the start of an amazing open-wheel racing career.”

Woods-Toth’s road to the F4 series began with the successful completion of a three-day F4 program at the Radford Racing School, back in December, as part of a package awarded to Woods-Toth by the MRFKC and F4 U.S.

Following the three-day school, Woods-Toth was then invited in February to a two-day test in Cresson, Texas with the Kiwi Motorsport F4 team. Woods-Toth’s two-day performance caught the eye of team owners Garry Orton and Teena Larsen, and a deal was struck to enter Woods-Toth in the F4 United States Championship season opening rounds, March 9-12, at NOLA Motorsport Park.

“I really appreciate having this opportunity with the Kiwi Motorsport F4 team for my first season of car racing,” said Woods-Toth. “In the short time I have spent with the team we have established a great relationship and I’m confident we can achieve some great results together.”

MRFKC series co-founder, and Canadian racing legend, Ron Fellows was able to accompany Woods-Toth to MSR Cresson for his test with Kiwi Motorsport last month, and noted that the driver performed “extremely well.”

“It seemed to be a natural progression to quickly get a deal done with Garry and Teena to provide Patrick with this F4 opportunity,” Fellows continued.

"On behalf of the MRKFC, a big thank you to Scott Goodyear at the F4 United States Championship series and of course Garry Orton and Teena Larsen with Kiwi Motorsport. We are all looking forward to watching Patrick’s progression."

Woods-Toth’s campaign in the F4 U.S. series gets underway this coming weekend at NOLA Motorsport Park, with three feature races over the four-day schedule. Information about the event including the schedule, live results, and more can be found by clicking here.

Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One™ Team is pleased to confirm that Lance Stroll will participate in this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix.

Lance Stroll

Lance Stroll said: "It was frustrating not to be out in Bahrain for the pre-season test and I was disappointed to miss the three days of running. However, given the injury to my wrist, the team and I felt it was best to focus on recovery so that I would be ready for this weekend and the long season ahead.

"It was an unfortunate accident – I fell from my bike when my tyre caught a hole in the ground - but thankfully the damage was not significant and a successful minor surgery on my right wrist fixed the problem very quickly. Since then, I've been working hard with my team to ensure that I am fully fit to compete this weekend.

"I would like to thank the F1 community for their support and privacy, as well as the team who have helped my recovery. Now I'm ready to get my head down and concentrate on racing this weekend – something I'm really looking forward to."

Both Felipe Drugovich and Stoffel Vandoorne will remain on-site as the team's reserve drivers this weekend.

Demonstration vehicle combines HPD INDYCAR drivetrain, racing suspension, Firestone high-performance tires and Honda CR-V Hybrid bodywork, features 2024 Honda INDYCAR hybrid power unit technology and will be on display and making on-track demonstrations at Honda Indy Toronto. (Photo-Honda)

Markham, Ontario - While hybrid power units officially debut in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES in 2024, race fans and car enthusiasts alike will be treated to a "sneak preview" of the incoming technology with the debut of the Honda CR-V Hybrid Racer at next month's season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

Video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nWlxtxMl8o

"It's kind of an INDYCAR 'beast' in Honda CR-V 'sheep's clothing'," said David Salters, president and technical director for Honda Performance Development, the North American racing arm of American Honda and Acura. "This project is our 'rolling electrified laboratory,' to investigate where the talented men and women of HPD and Honda could go with electrification, hybrid technology and 100% renewable fuels. It epitomizes Honda's fun-to-drive ethos, showcases electrification and it just rocks our car culture roots and racing heritage! We present the CR-V Hybrid Racer – aka 'The HPD Beast'!"

Conceived and designed at Honda Performance Development (HPD) in California and built at Honda Automotive Development Center (ADC) in Ohio by the Honda of America Racing Team (HART) group at ADC, the CR-V Hybrid Racer places a 2.2-liter twin-turbocharged, electrified Honda V6 INDYCAR power unit and transmission under 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid bodywork to create the "rolling laboratory" for the continued development of electrified technology by Honda and HPD. The CR-V Hybrid Racer runs on Shell's 100% renewable race fuel: and features world-leading Skeleton Supercapacitors and Empel MGU hybrid motor technology.

While under development, the project carried the appropriate code name "The Beast," with looks reminiscent of the silhouette GT racing and Group B rally cars of the 1980s and '90s. But the technology under the skin is strictly 21st century.

The Honda CR-V Hybrid Racer strengthens the connections between HPD, the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and Honda passenger vehicles; creates additional awareness around the new INDYCAR hybrid powertrain coming in 2024; showcases the fun and power available from Honda electrified powertrains; and spotlights the innovation, creativity and capabilities of both Honda Performance Development and Honda Automotive Development Center.

Where to see the Honda CR-V Hybrid Racer

The Honda CR-V Hybrid Racer will make its public debut March 3-5 at the NTT INDYCAR SERIES season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Florida. The unique vehicle will be on display and making on-track demonstrations at multiple INDYCAR events, including the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach (April 14-16); the Children's of Alabama Indy Grand Prix (April 28-30); the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio (June 30- July 2); the Honda Indy Toronto (July 14-16); the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix in Nashville (August 4-6); the Grand Prix of Portland (September 1-3); and the season-concluding Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey (September 8-10).

In addition to INDYCAR race weekends, the CR-V Hybrid Racer will make additional appearances at select media events throughout 2023.
