Toronto, Ontario – Over the past 75 years, the Porsche factory in Stuttgart, Germany, has churned out timeless and classic cars — and some of the most rare and exquisitely maintained from that roster will be showcased by Cobble Beach Classics at the 2023 Canadian International AutoShow.

Cobble Beach Classics is consistently among the most anticipated features of the AutoShow. Presented in partnership with Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance — a show of elegant and rarely seen automobiles, often viewed as art, held each September on the shores of Georgian Bay just north of Owen Sound — this year’s exhibit will offer a unique perspective on three-quarters of a century of Porsche, showcasing 16 historically significant classic Porsche models, headlined by a 1969 Porsche 917 Long Tail Chassis 005.

“With its smooth, flowing lines and distinctive ‘frog eye’ headlights, the Porsche brand is instantly recognizable,” says Rob McLeese, Founder and Show Chair of Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance. “From the first Porsche that rolled off the assembly line in 1948, it is a car that has made a difference. We are excited to showcase a selection of some of the most popular and rare Porsches ever produced.”

The 917 Long Tail is a restoration of the 005 car that debuted at the 1,000-kilometre race at Spa on May 11, 1969, where it showed incredible speed to capture the pole in its first race at one of the most historic tracks in the world. The car has since been restored with most of its original parts, and normally calls California home. The vehicle’s owner, racer and entrepreneur David Seacombe, is an enthusiast of the Porsche brand, and hailing originally from Peterborough, Ont., was very excited to see his classic vehicle showcased on ‘home soil’ taking its place as one of the AutoShow’s true ‘Hero Cars’ of the Show.

The Cobble Beach Presents 75 years of Porsche exhibit will also include:

  • 1952 356 Pre A
  • 1959 Speedster
  • 1964 904
  • 1970 911 ST lightweight

The RaceCanada Rising Star Program will help young Canadian drivers and deliver unique, behind the scenes content for our readers.
By: Mike Sullivan/RaceCanada.ca
May 26 2021

Today, RaceCanada is launching it's Rising Star Program, to assist up and coming drivers.

Our goal is to help out promising young drivers, 1 road racer and 1 oval racer, by giving them a platform and showcasing them all season long.

Our first two Rising Star drivers are second-generation oval racer Kyle Steckly and road racer for Brian Graham Racing, Jonathan Woolridge.

Kyle begins his quest to follow in his championship-winning father's footsteps this year at the wheel of a 22 Racing Team Chevrolet Camaro in the Flamboro Speedway Pro Modified division, as well as hoping to make some starts later in the season in the APC Late Model Series.

Jonathan returns to his Brian Graham Racing Pipe-Honda F1600 car for his third season in the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship, looking to better his 3rd place in the championship from 2020, while also looking to add to his closed wheel experience with Mark Motors and Best Line Motorsports.

We'll follow both drivers through what promises to be another difficult racing season here in Ontario, giving our readers and viewers a behind he scenes look at their preparations for races and all that goes into being a professional racecar driver.

We'll be creating content centred on Kyle and Jonathan across all of our channels, with written articles on RaceCanada.ca, podcacsts on RaceCanada.world and lots of video content on our soon to be launched RaceCanada TV.

We'll dig deeper than the usual press releases for Kyle and Jonathan, looking at entire race weekends, from start to finish, and not just the results.

We'll also be creating a line of swag for both drivers that will be available on www.ShopRaceCanada.ca, with 100% of the profits of all sales going to the drivers. Our aim is to have the products available before the end of June, so check back regularly at www.ShopRaceCanada.ca or follow on Twitter @ShopRaceCanada where all new products are announced.

Follow along through the ups and downs of what will be a challenging season, that these two young stars are confident they will navigate successfully so they can take the next steps in their careers.
