Both drivers will test the 2015 DTM championship-winning car on Monday, 30 November
Stuttgart, Germany – Bonus for 2015 Champions Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig, as they are invited to attend a DTM test in Jerez de la Frontera on Monday, 30 November for their achievements during the 2015 season. The ADAC GT Masters champions will get acquainted in Portugal with the 2015 DTM championship-winning car, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM.
Asch and Ludwig have the combined experience gained from 76 races in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3. Asch is also the only driver to have won the ADAC GT Masters title twice, in 2012 and 2015, both times at the wheel of a SLS AMG GT3. During the 2012 season, he shared the car that won the championship with Maximilian Götz, who is now a Mercedes-AMG DTM driver.
Götz is the perfect example of a driver successfully making the move up from the Mercedes-AMG Customer Sports Programme to the DTM. Just like Asch and Ludwig, Götz was given his first DTM test in 2013 in recognition of his achievements on the AMG Customer Sports Programme.
The fathers of Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig are well known in the DTM. Roland Asch and Klaus Ludwig both lined up for Mercedes-Benz in the DTM during the 90s. Ludwig won two of his three DTM titles for the brand with the three-pointed star in 1992 and 1994. The father-son teams will appear together at Stars & Cars 2015 on 12 December. The event will be broadcast live on SPORT1 and via live-streaming at: starsandcars.mercedes.me.
Sebastian Asch:
"The SLS AMG GT3 is a fantastic racing car, with which I've now twice won the ADAC GT Masters championship title. I'm really pleased to be testing another Mercedes-Benz championship winner, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM. November 30th can't come soon enough!"
Luca Ludwig:
"Christmas is coming early for Sebastian and me this year! We've had a great season in the ADAC GT Masters and this test definitely puts the icing on the cake - many thanks to Mercedes-AMG for placing their trust in me and making it possible to test a DTM car. This is a very emotional moment for me, since I can remember my childhood and teenage years, growing up as a son and fan of the Mercedes-Benz family and following all the races. To see the Ludwig name associated with a Mercedes-Benz DTM car once again after a gap of over 15 years makes me feel tremendously proud."
Ulrich Fritz, Head of Mercedes-AMG DTM:
"Promoting young talent has a long tradition at Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes-AMG DTM Team produced the youngest champion in the history of the series this season with Pascal Wehrlein. We will continue to go down this route in the future. We've made it possible previously in the past for drivers from the AMG Customer Sports Programme to test one of our DTM cars. I am in no doubt that Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig have got the talent needed to really impress in their DTM test."
