Maritime racing veteran, Kent Vincent, has joined the Hurricanes as their coach of the recently formed eMotorsports team.

Vincent, driver of the number 8 car in the Parts for Trucks Maritime Pro Stock Tour for Vincent-Lambe-Garnier Racing, is set to begin working with student-drivers as they look to improve their skills in their eracing careers.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the Hurricanes on their eMotorsports program. This is a great opportunity for myself and the Holland College team to grow this great project,” Vincent shared.

Vincent, who began his racing career at the Oyster Bed Speedway in 1990, jumped to the Maritime Pro Stock Tour in 2000. He has recorded six career victories, including the 2010 and 2015 IWK 250; the most prestigious stock car race in the Maritimes. In 2018 and 2019 he was voted the winner of the tours Fan Favorite Award.

Hurricanes eMotorsports currently has six members, all competing in the Canadian eMotorsports Series; the club is looking to add new members that compete in all racing titles across all consoles and platforms.

Last week, the club announced a partnership with Logitech G, the worldwide leader in manufacturing simulator equipment. Holland College now has Logitech G equipment on campus that allows drivers to practice, both on their own and under the guidance of Vincent.

“The addition of a partnership with a company like Logitech G is huge,” shared Daniel Cudmore, eMotorsports club coordinator and Hurricanes Athletics Department staff member.

“The development over the last few months of this program has been very fun to be a part of. Being able to offer our club members the opportunity to practice while they are on campus, and now to receive coaching from a quality individual like Kent; the club has quickly evolved into something positive during these complicated times where typical forms of sport have not been possible.”

Mark Cox, an International Hospitality Management student at Holland College, is excited to have these resources available to him as he looks to develop his skills.

“Having someone as experienced as Kent joining our team will definitely give us a leg up on the rest of the field this season,” he shared.

The next race for the Hurricanes eMotorsports drivers in the Canadian eMotorsports Series takes place on Tuesday, June 30 at the virtual-Sonoma Raceway for the Pressed 4 Time 175; the series broadcasts their races live at www.facebook.com/eMotorsportsCAN at 9pm Atlantic each Tuesday.
