Burlington, Ontario — REV TV Canada, YOUR MOTORSPORTS & AUTOMOTIVE DESTINATION 24/7, is extremely excited to announce that the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is set to return for the 2023 season.

This year marks the beginning of an incredible new era for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with the introduction of the all-new Grand Touring Prototype (GTP)—a name very familiar to race fans as it harkens back to the “golden era” of sportscar racing from the 80s and 90s—category that replaces the outgoing Daytona Prototype International class as the top category in the series. These beautiful and unique racers from OEMs Acura, BMW, Cadillac, and Porsche, represent the future of racing and automotive technology with their incredible hybrid power plants, cost effective chassis design and drop-dead gorgeous looks. By recalling their past, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship has their eyes firmly on a sustainable, and very fast, future.

“Sports car fans in Canada have been clamouring for the return of North America’s premier championship to REV TV since we began broadcasting it last year," said Ed Kanerva, Director of Programming at REV TV. "We have incredibly knowledgeable fans who recognize the significance and excitement surrounding this new era for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and we cannot wait to share this exciting season with them.”

“IMSA has been visiting Canada since 1975 and over the years we have come to appreciate just how much Canadians love our series and its history,” said David Pettit, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Business Operations for IMSA. “The return of the GTP class and our exciting new hybrid era in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is sure to thrill race fans across the nation as they tune into REV TV, and we can’t wait to see them in person when we visit Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in July.”

REV TV will begin airing the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship starting with the crown jewel of endurance racing in North America, the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, presented in its entirety starting at 1:30PM ET on Saturday, January 28th.
