Bowmanville, Ontario – After an exciting qualifying round Saturday morning in the Sports Car Championship Canada (SCCC) presented by Michelin race series with 14 cars in the TCR class and six cars in the GT4 class, the first of two scheduled races at the Castrol Victoria Day Speedfest was cancelled Saturday afternoon following a severe thunderstorm that pummeled Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. There was extensive damage to the teams’ equipment and paddock setups, in addition to other weather-related issues.
Following a meeting that FEL Motorsports held with the teams and drivers, it was determined that the field of 20 cars could not run equitable points races and needed to cancel the weekend’s races and will look at options to make up the two races at a later date. Details will be announced as soon as possible.
