Trois-Rivieres Quebec –
After a hiatus in 2020 where the GP3R was cancelled due to Covid, 2021 saw the 51st running of the race this past weekend.
The NASCAR Pinty's Series has been headlining the race since 2007 when Kerry Micks took the inaugural win. This year, Alex Tagliani scored his third NASCAR win, adding to his wins in 2017 & 2018, now trailing only Andrew Ranger's 4 NASCAR wins in Trois-Rivieres. Home town favourite J.F. Dumoulin in his only appearance in the series this year finished second, followed Kevin Lacroix in third. Rookie Treyten Lapcevich was fourth in an outstanding GP3R debut, while J.F.'s brother L.P. Battled brake issues to come home fifth.
In Canadian Touring Car Championship action, the first race saw Benoit Bergeron take the win over Martin Harvey and Tom Kwok, in the top TCR class car. Race 2 saw Martin Harvey move to the top step of the podium followed by the top TCR machine of Gary Kwok and Louis Montour.
In Formula 1600 action, Ontario interloper Nick Gilkes in his Britain West Mygale won race one, followed by Jean-Christophe Trahan and Jacob Moreau. In race two, Gilkes and Trahan repeated their earlier 1-2 finish, with Marc Antoine Cardin rounding out the podium. In a repeat of the first two F1600 races, it was again Nick Gilkes and Jean-Christophe Trahan finishing 1-2, with veteran Didier Schraenen filling out the final spot the podium.
In a strong Super Production field of 29 cars, the first race went to Olivier Bedard, followed by Marc Heroux and Eric Hochgeschurz. Race two saw Jimmy Briere with the win, followed by Marc Heroux Eric E.Laporte. The final Super Production race of weekend saw Olivier Bedard back on top, followed by Jimmy Briere and Charles-Andre Bilodeau.
In the first of two Nissan Sentra Cup races, Kevin King took the win over Alexandre Fortin and Valerie Limoges. In the second Sentra Cup race, Valerie Limoges followed up a strong opening race with a win, followed by Jesse Lazare and Alexandre Fortin.
