The 63rd running of the “Leavitt Machinery” Knox Mountain Hill Climb takes place May 16-17, 2020 in the city of Kelowna B.C. at Knox Mountain Park. The hill climb is the longest annually running paved hill climb in North America & attracts the top drivers from throughout B.C., Alberta & the Northwest United States.
The hill climb is 2.2 miles (3.5km) long & climbs 800 feet (245 meters) with a total of 9 turns from bottom to top for an average grade of 6.7% Cars are run one at a time, each trying to reach the top of the hill in the lowest elapsed time.
Drivers/Cars compete in various classes from open wheel formula cars to various sports car & sedan classes including powerful high horsepower GT cars. There is also a vintage race car class that brings out some great old cars from the past.
Each driver hopes to be crowned “King of the Hill” or “Queen of the Hill” by posting the fastest time of the weekend. Each car gets one practice run & up to 7 timed runs over the course of the weekend.
There will also be a car corral at the bottom of the hill during both days.
On Saturday night there will be live entertainment, beer garden & race cars on display at the bottom of the hill for spectators to view & interact with the racers.
The “Leavitt Machinery” Knox Mountain Hill Climb also supports numerous local charities again in 2020, giving back to the community.
