Tuesday June 30 2015 will see the launch of a new event at Ohsweken Speedway.
Will Debut With The Triple Crown Showdown
Ohsweken, Ontario - Ohsweken Speedway officials are proud to announce the Triple Crown Showdown, a new event set to help make the track's 20th season the biggest yet.
The Tuesday, June 30, 2015 event will feature a "Triple Crown" consisting of the Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series, Go Nuclear! Late Model Series, and Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Cars, plus Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks. The event will feature the inaugural Ohsweken visits for both the Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified and Go Nuclear! Late Model series, and presents a rare opportunity to see Modifieds, Late Models, and Sprint Cars together at the same track on the same night.
The Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series has a storied history, with roots tracing back to 1972, and includes 26 events at 21 different venues in 2014. Brett Hearn of Sussex, New Jersey is the current series points leader heading into this weekend's prestigious Syracuse 200. More information about the Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series is available at www.SuperDIRTcarSeries.com.
The Go Nuclear! Late Model series has grown steadily since its inception in 2011, and includes 12 events at 9 different venues in 2014. Belleville, Ontario's Charlie Sandercock is the current series points leader. More information about the Go Nuclear! Late Model series is available at www.GoNuclearLateModels.com.
The Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Car portion of the Triple Crown Showdown takes on extra importance, as the feature winner will be guaranteed to start no worse than 7th in the 11th annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals feature in September. Similarly, the Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Car feature winner in the Northern Summer Nationals later in the season will be guaranteed to start no worse than 8th in the CSCN feature.
The Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks class has been one of the most competitive weekly racing divisions anywhere in the province over the past few seasons, with Friday night car counts numbering in the mid-30's, and even more attending special events. Dave Silverthorn, Jr. claimed the 2014 championship by just 4 points over 2013 champ Lee Winger.
The Triple Crown Showdown is scheduled for Tuesday, June 30th, 2015, with racing beginning at 7:30pm. Stay tuned to www.OhswekenSpeedway.com in the coming weeks for more information about this event, and news about Ohsweken's 20th anniversary season.
