Caistor Centre, Ontario – Team Turner Racing had a busy week of action at Ohsweken Speedway with three events on tap over the course of a five-day span. Ryan Turner led the way for the team in his Ace’s Bar and Grill No.91 with a seventh-place finish last Friday night.

All three cars were in action for Christmas in July and Autograph night last Friday where they met hundreds of fans on the track for autographs and photos at intermission. When the Feature rolled around, Ryan was able to earn a seventh-place finish. Ryan improved each week throughout July and is happy with how his effort continues to produce strong finishes.

“I tried a couple of different things that have worked and I’m just comfortable with the way the car is,” Ryan explained. “It’s definitely very easy to drive and it’s an awesome time to get in it right now.”

Cory Turner got stuck with a tough draw on Friday night and had to start the main event in 17th. He was able to drive his KT Tobacco/Silo Wireless No.97 forward to an 11th-place finish.

“We just needed to be better in the heat race,” Cory said. “We didn’t move forward and we were buried. The car was decent in the Feature, we just didn’t get as many spots as we would have liked, but we were in one piece.”

Jamie Turner had the toughest night as contact with Parker Price-Miller resulted in him flipping the Charlie Bee Honey No.11 on its side in turn one.

“He spun out on lap two going into turn one,” Jamie explained. “I tried to miss him and just caught him with my right-rear on his right-rear and it dumped me over on my side.”

The damage was too severe for Jamie to continue. The team unloaded another No.11 car on Monday night for the Northern Summer Nationals as all three drivers were back in action. A tough 31-car field was in attendance, including NASCAR star Kyle Larson.

“When you have Kyle Larson, Danny Lasoski and Parker Price-Miller, you have a pretty stout field,” Cory stated.

Ryan Turner qualified for the main event and finished 12th while Cory missed transferring by just one spot with a 5th-place finish in the B-Main.

“I was really happy with the weekend,” Ryan said. “There was some tough competition this weekend and I think the car was good.”

Cory’s tough draw hindered his effort as he was again stuck at the rear of his heat race.

“We had a poor draw, started last in the Heat Race and just didn’t advance then I was buried in the B-Main,” Cory said. “In the B I was good. I had a shot at (Ryan) Susice for the transfer spot and I showed my nose probably too early and he took my lane away. I figured if we could get in the show we had a car capable of running in the top-10.”

Jamie struggled in his backup car on Monday, one that he ran earlier this season but was not been able to find to his liking of yet.

“I had another car luckily, but it was the one I already got out of earlier in the year because I wasn’t happy with the way it was performing,” Jamie said. “I ran that one Monday night and I realized I still wasn’t happy with it.”

On Tuesday, Ryan and Cory both signed-in to race against the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series in Ohsweken’s Six Nations Showdown. Racing against the best Sprint Car drivers in the world is always a thrill for the Turner team and an excellent learning opportunity.

“I think it’s awesome,” Ryan said. “Just to walk around the pits and talk to them, you really get to learn some things and see what they’re doing with their cars. You get to ask them some questions and they always seem willing to help you.”

“It’s pretty cool,” continued Cory. “I liked in the Heat Race when I drove around Kraig Kinser. It’s fun going out to time trial by yourself too. It’s the only race that we run all year that’s like it. It’s really good recognition.”

Both drivers missed transferring to main event, which was a tough challenge for their 360ci powered motors against the faster 410ci cars of the Outlaws. Regardless, it was an excellent opportunity for both drivers to showcase their marketing partners in front of the largest Ohsweken crowd in the track’s history.

“It’s awesome to get their names out there and show the car off,” Ryan said. “We were in the pits early both days and we had a bunch of people who know our sponsors come around and ask questions. It’s good for them to go back and tell them how they saw the car at the track.”

The team also added to their respective notebooks in preparation for the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals. The dry slick track’s on Monday and Tuesday night were similar to the conditions drivers often see at the $12,000-to-win event in September.

“I was pretty happy with my car in the B-Main,” Cory said. “We tried a few things that I think are going to be really beneficial come Canadian Sprint Car Nationals time in a month and a half.”

“We can definitely build off it,” Ryan said. “Hopefully we see that track again (before the Nationals), maybe at the Triple Crown Showdown. That would be perfect to have another night to try a couple more things.”

Team Turner Racing will take this weekend off before returning to action at Ohsweken on Friday, August 4 to take on the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints. Race time is 7:30pm. For additional event information, visit www.ohswekenspeedway.com.
